Fixing KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED in Windows 7
It is important to remember when troubleshooting this Blue Screen of Death stop error that it can be caused by Physical Devices, Virtual Devices, and Windows Services. To properly resolve this BSOD you need to check both the Device Manager if listed in the stop error and/or Windows Services to disable any offending services. This can be done through services.msc in Windows Search bar or going to the Administrative tools in the Control Panel.
Device Manager – Troubleshooting Steps
Boot into Safe mode
Go to Control Panel and click on Device Manager
Remove the problem driver by Right + Clicking and selecting delete. Then Reboot your PC.
The error should be cleared after deleting the associated bad or corrupt driver file and restarting the PC. Windows should then install a generic driver or will show an error on the Driver in Device Manager. In these cases, you need to reinstall the appropriate driver by downloading it from the manufacturer’s websites or installation media.
If reinstallation of the Driver continues to show the same Blue Screen of Death stop error the device itself may be the culprit and needs to be replaced.
Windows Services – Troubleshooting Steps
Boot into Safe Mode
In the Start Menu or Cortana Search type services.msc then Right + Click Services.msc and select Run As Admin
Go to Control Panel and Left + Click Administrative Tools
Right + Click on Services, locate the offending service and Right + Click and select Disable or Stop.
If you Right + Click and select properties the Service Properties window will open.
Select Disabled from the drop-down menu, and then click the Apply button and restart your PC.
