How to install Windows 10

A quick guide on the process, how to install Windows 10 on your PC. Most of you have probably gone through the riggers upgrading to Windows 10 since it’s release or purchased a new PC with Windows 10 Pre-Installed, however the need for some of us the need to re-install a fresh copy arrives from time to time.

  • Step 1: Go Download the Windows 10 ISO image from Microsoft’s web site. You can also download the web installer from the page and just choose to upgrade your PC, whichever is the easier for you.
  • Step 2: If you are installing on a desktop PC or laptop with Windows already on it, you’ll be prompted to immediately start your upgrade process. If you prefer, you can burn it to a disk or create a bootable USB flash drive.
  • Step 3: Install it mostly by clicking the Next button, making sure to choose Upgrade when prompted.

Note — You are going to need a valid Windows license key for Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 to preform this platform upgrade or install fresh.

When you first boot your computer you’ll see a screen like this one:

Click the next button and you will be taken to the following install button screen.

Then choose if you want to upgrade your exisiting Windows platform or preform a clean install of the new platform.

Note — Recommend you choose to upgrade rather then clean install as there have been some reported problems.

At this point you need to create a partition, or format the original and create a new one to use for your new install. WARNING!!! — Formatting your hard drive will erase all data on the drive.

Grab a cup of coffee and wait as Windows begins it’s install.

After the reboot your installation is done, it’s time to begin configuring settings. I recommend the express settings you can always change the settings later, and customize them to your needs.

Unlike previous versions of Windows (other then 8 or 8.1) you can sign into a Microsoft account as your user account for the computer. Additional features of Windows 10 are activated only on Microsoft enabled accounts.

As OneDrive is integrated into Windows 10 you can choose to configure it here.

Now we get another wait screen as Windows prepares itself.

And voila are upgrade and install is complete, you are now a Windows 10 user.

Hopefully this how to guide on Installing a fresh copy of Windows 10 install has been informative and helpful. Installs can be a daunting task when first beginning, thankfully, as years of Microsoft products progression has continued this task has drastically reduced both the time and trauma in getting the task completed!
